A man is killed, injured in the fire at a Kitchenware factory in Mumbai, India

The fire at an assembly plant in Maharashtra has claimed the life of a man and injured another person.

The fire broke out on Wednesday morning at a factory of Kitchenware in Kolkata, which makes kitchenware for the likes of Samsung, Apple, Panasonic and many others.

The blaze started when one of the workers opened a window while trying to save a customer.

The factory’s owner said he did not know the cause of the fire, but that a worker in the building started burning.

The deceased man was identified as Manish Kumar Sharma, 45, who worked in the factory.

He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to reports.

The injured man was not immediately identified.

The incident has caused panic in the city.

Some of the shops that are run by the factory are closed.
